Cape Town South Africa is one of the top travel destinations in the world. Located on the Cape Peninsula in the Western Cape, this vibrant and cosmopolitan city is the gateway to the African continent.
Cape Town offers a multitude of tours and tourist attractions - things to do and places to see - whatever your tastes, inclinations or budget.
The City Bowl is a hub of activity. Whether you're interested in trendy dining, live music or shopping, the City Centre provides a wealth of choice. St George's Mall is a pedestrian walk lined with shops and restaurants where you can shop for clothing and arts and crafts and listen to local street musicians. Green Market Square is a popular outdoor market where vendors sell clothing, jewellery, African crafts, books and almost everything else. Within easy walking distance are Parliament, Cape Town City Hall, the Supreme Court, the South African National Gallery, the South African Library and the South African Museum.
North of the city centre lies the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront shopping complex and working harbour, South Africa's hottest visitor destination.
The Peninsula has arguably some of the best beaches in the world. The Atlantic Coast is home to the famous beaches of Clifton, Camps Bay and Llandudno - popular venues overlooked by multimillion Rand mansions and apartments.
Further along the Atlantic coastline are the popular seaside villages of Hout Bay, Noordhoek, Kommetjie, Misty Cliffs and Scarborough which border the Cape Peninsula National Park and offer visitors tranquil retreat and unspoilt beauty.
On the Indian Ocean side is the False Bay Coast and the warm water beaches at Muizenberg, Fish Hoek and Boulders Beach in Simonstown. Here, sun worshippers share the beach with the only land based penguin-breeding colony in Africa.
The Blaauwberg region boasts vast stretches of pristine beaches on the northern side of the Atlantic Coast. These beaches, such as Big Bay, provide some of the Cape's most popular surfing and windsurfing spots. From here one is treated to classic views of Table Mountain, 10km across Table Bay.
This province is synonymous with wine and the Winelands area is home to numerous award-wining wine estates. The historical towns of Franschhoek and Stellenbosch are at the centre of this wine-growing region and visitors are invited to participate in popular wine-tasting day trips.
The Tygerberg area is situated south of the historic town of Stellenbosch, tucked between the mountains and the sea. Tygerberg is rich in cultural and historical diversity. Art and craft centres Philani and Zenzele, in the growing town of Khayalitsha reflect the political turbulence and tokens of the apartheid past.
Oakvale Lodge Guest House is ideally positioned for easy access to a variety of fashionable destinations - the City Centre, world-famous beaches, excellent restaurants, the V&A Waterfront and other popular highlights for travellers to the Peninsula.
